Description
Onoclea sensibilis, the sensitive fern, produces broad, fresh green fronds for cool, damp shade. It is deciduous, with the foliage dying back for winter before returning in spring. Creeping rhizomes allow it to form substantial colonies, making it useful beside ponds or in moist woodland planting. Give it space to spread and manage its edges in a smaller garden.
